static no more

Now I can lift of my vinyl records without the felt mat coming of with it. Does the job regarding static and looks superb on my P3. As for sound, difficult to put into words so I'lljust say it has a more 'solid' sound. very happy

Nice quality leather perfectly cut, looks great against piano black on the turntable. Judge for yourself on sound difference but it does add a touch of class .

Fed up with Dust
20 May 2020  |

I clean my vinyl using the Spin Clean washer, but was still get dust on my stylus prompting me to try a different mat than the felt supplied with my Rega RP6. Been using this for a couple of weeks now And dust has significantly reduced. If I am honest, I can’t really say the sound has changed much, it’s certainly not gone backwards but this mat and using the anti static cloth has definitely reduced the dust, which means my cartridge/stylus needs less cleaning. Happy with the purchase

Very good mat
01 February 2019  |

I’ve tried all sorts of mats on my Rega RP8. The felt mat supplied with the turntable just doesn’t do well enough...it collects static and dust and apart from a cushion, seems pretty useless. I’ve tried rubber, cork and cork/rubber mixes without great success. Then I made a trial leather mat out of leather shiny one side, suede the other. That made a noticeable improvement to sound and performance all round, but the shiny side slipped and did get a bit of static. So I tried another option, suede finish bothe sides and that worked great with noticeably more clarity but warmth to the sound (Naim can be a bit harsh at times and t helped with that). So I went ahead and bought one of these red mats. It’s great for all the reasons listed. Perimeter fit is fine. My only criticisms are that the hole in th centre is slightly larger than the Rega spindle...about 0.5mm all round ie 1mm in total. That means the mat isn’t held totally central, which I find irritating. I solved the by cutting some red insulation tape into a narrow strip 3mm wide and carefully winding it around the bottom of the spindle. That worked a treat, solved the problem and is totally invisible.
The other criticism is that initially the mat sheds some red bits of fluffy leather. A few vacuums and the proble will be gone but it’s irritating nonetheless. But I’m not reducing the 5* rating because the mat is good...it performs well in terms of sound quality and static and looks good too. It’s not a stupid price either so as the two criticisms are easily solved, 5* it is! I’d be happy to recommend.

This red suede mat was instantly better than the original felt mat on the RP3, no static, better grip and looks pretty smart.

Well worth it!

My old felt mat had to go
30 April 2018  |

I didn't want to spend a fortune so thought I'd try this suede one. It's great - I had become used to the mat sticking to the record every time i lifted it off, but there is no static or little hairy bits. I think the bass is a bit better too.
