All hi quality tonearms use fluid damping. Now your Technics ) can have this desirable feature. The TD-1000 kit consists of a precision machined trough, tonearm paddle, and special Silicone fluid. Installs easily in minutes.

The paddle rides in the fluid controlling sudden movements of the arm. It also helps suppress sound vibration within the tonearm tube. Improves tracking on warps, and tracing of minute details. You will hear better bass and clearer vocals. Works great at all speeds including 78 RPM. True worldclass performance.

All tonearms vibrate at the arm cartrige resonant frequency. This causes the speakers to motion in and out modulating the soundstage. Fluid damping stabilizes this behaviour and brings greater stability to the soundstage. Your amplifiers are also over reacting to this very low frequency signal and that can cause even more problems.

It would be better if we could call this behavior "Dynamic Ridgidity" for that better describes what is happening. Functionally when a tonearm reacts to the resonant frequency it produces a peak of output energy. This is seen as woofer pumping which is essentially the stylus over reacting to a small warp in the records surface. Fluid damping stops the stylus from over reacting. That is what is "damped". It all occurs at frequencies below 10 hz and has no impact whatsoever on audible dynamics. In otherwords, do not confuse damping of resonance with damping of dynamics they are not related in any way.

Above 10 Hz the arm is seen to be even more ridgid at any single point in time and as a result the stylus traces the groove with even more precision. The biggest sonic effect is to make the sound stage more "Still". This can be subtle to some, overwhelming to others. It all depends on your listening priorities.

In summary, reproduction is more precise with damping then without.

The really great features to take note of with the KAB TD-1000 Tonearm Fluid Damper are the improved sonics and tonearm response.

The tonearm handles better under manual cueing. The needle tracks warps without ever leaving the surface, even at 78 RPM. Tracking of shallow groove records like vintage Pathes, is no longer a nightmare. Many repeat skips will now continue unabridged.

In use, the damping is attenuating the low frequency "arm - cartridge " resonance. This lets the arm mate with a wider array of cartridges while providing consistent bass performance.

Definitely tracks much better.
27 September 2024  |

On my 1210GR it definitely tracks much better with the damper in place. The jury is still out on the sound and I think that is down to getting the right amount of fluid. I did overfill I think (not by much) and the system lost its sparkle so I took a little out and it came back.

I’m happy for sure, but experimentation is needed to get it right. It tells you to fill to 1/2 but there is no indicator line.

The oil is quite messy so be very careful how you apply it.

Overall, positive results though.

Would never have believed it - it works
24 September 2024  |

Simple 5 minute attachment and suddenly bass is tight, and has a presence and treble tamed. Using a Denon DL304 on a technics SL-1210GR2.
For me it will extended what cartridges I can use and control any unwanted movement. Listening is believing.
Queuing the stylus doesn't drift from the anti skate.
Good positive purchase and result.

KAB TD-1000 on SL-100C
27 March 2024  |

Well-made trough for silicone, was easily installed, however, the grub screw on the reverse side of the damper's "paddle" is a little fiddly to tighten with the supplied Allen Key. Sound-wise, the damper makes an immediate impact to the depth and resolution of bass instruments. Highly recommended modification.

Totally worth the money !
30 September 2022  |

I knew about this fluid damper since I got interested in Technics turntables. As I own a SL 1200G for about a year now, I finally decided to purchase one, and I must admit it's totally worth the money !!! Especially for bass response (dynamics and instruments separation) and sound stage stability. And it helps making tonearm and cartridge compatibility perfect, concerning effective mass and stylus compliance. Installation is very easy and parts are ver well crafted in quality material. Thanks Analogue Seduction for the fast delivery !

A definite improvement to low end definition and tightens up the overall soundstage. Also helps with issues from warped records.

Excellent modification, you can hear the SQ improvement across the ranges and it works wonders on any warped records. One of the best value for money modifications I have added to my system.

It works
19 August 2021  |

Using on an ask-1500c / DS Audio E-1

Works a treat. Everything it claims to be able to do, it does. No point me waxing lyrical about it, heaping on the praise. Just feel reassured it’ works as intended.

5 stars (out of 5).

Fitting was a doddle. I found the best way to tighten the main grub screw for the reservoir was to remove the lid and counterweight.

No Brainer
10 April 2021  |

If you have a Technics turntable then this upgrade is an utter no brainer. For a modest price you get a very clear benefit. The improvement in texture and resolution in the bass is immediately obvious and over time you realise that there is additional clarity throughout the frequency range.
