The latest member of our multi-award winning Hyper family, the Hyper AES-EBU is an optimum quality 110 Ohm cable for this increasingly popular interface. To keep cost down, we use our low contact resistance soldered XLR plug; to maximise performance, we employ highly conductive silver-plated OFC conductors with a microporous dielectric and doubled shielding configuration.

The speed (bandwidth) characteristic of most cables is determined primarily by the combination of the dielectric performance of the insulator applied around the conductor and the conductor material itself.

One of the primary challenges is to keep as close as possible to the 110-ohm characteristic impedance specification to minimise cable reflections and hence time-based jitter induction. We use a balanced pair of silver-plated OFC conductors enclosed within a multi-level screen constructed from Aluminium Mylar film and OFC woven braid. Both conductors are wrapped individually with a highly efficient microporous PTFE dielectric tape, with an anti-vibration cotton filler.
