Clearlight Audio RDC 1.2 Cones (Set of 4)

  • Large cone measuring 40mm in diameter and 37mm tall, load capacity 25kg per cone.
  • Available Unthreaded or with M6 and M8 threaded inserts
The Clearlight Audio RDC 1.2 is ideally suited for the replacement of spikes on floor-standing loudspeakers and are available unthreaded or with a choice of  6mm or  8mm threaded inserts

On solid floors the RDC 1.2 cone helps to isolate the loudspeaker cabinet from its environment, giving a clearer, more natural tone to vocals and a tighter control of bass.

Even on carpeted floors the nature of the RDC material reduces the effects of cabinet resonance, even if the cone does not penetrate through to the solid floor below.

This can be superior to spikes where cabinet resonance is transmitted down through the spike to the solid floor, where it is then reflected back up through the spike and back into the loudspeaker cabinet causing colouration. RDC Cone Cups can be used to reduce the risk of cones slipping on solid floors, whilst at the same time improving the level of decoupling of the loudspeaker from its environment.

On wooden floors the RDC 1.2 cone offers protection from damage, whilst at the same time reducing the effect of resonance transmitted into the floor. This is especially useful on suspended floors, where excessive bass can be transmitted to the room below.

This can be reduced further with the use of RDC Cone Cups and Combi-Bases.

The Clearlight Audio  RDC 1.2 is also perfect for replacing spikes on the bottom of loudspeaker stands using threaded cones

Amazing replacement for speaker spikes
25 April 2021  |

My Sonus Faber Electa Amator 2s have been bolted to their dedicated stands with spiked feet piercing my carpet to rest on my concrete floor for more than twenty years. Having read the latest ideas that spikes may be deleterious to sound quality, I thought I’d give some isolation feet a try. I needed something not too expensive and which didn’t raise the height of my speakers too much as the Sonus Fabers’ tweeters need to be just below ear level. These with the M8 threaded inset fit the bill so I ordered two sets of four. Wow! I’m amazed at the scale of difference. This must be the most cost effective upgrade I’ve experienced. Notes stop and start much more quickly, bringing details to the fore and making vocals easier to interpret. Bass is noticeably more controlled and yet the overall balance and tone of the speakers hasn’t been affected, which is key when you’ve built a system around the sound of your speakers. And, of course, they don’t leave deep holes in your carpet! I’ve been so impressed that I’ve ordered some threaded RDC2 cones to replace the spikes in my amp stand and it will be interesting to see what effect they have on this equipment.

Sound footing
11 July 2019  |

I bought 4 of these with the 10mm thread as feet for my hifi stand to replace the standard spikes. They stand on carpet but that does not seem to affect their ability. They have added more depth to the system. Would buy again if needed.
