The kit arrived promptly. very straightforward to remove and fit the replacement motor. I have a 1st edition Planar 3 which required both sets of pads supplied in the kit. Result - excellent sound quality - i did not realise that simply upgrading the motor would make such a renarkable difference - highly recommended.

This kit does what it says on the pack. The noise floor is noticeably lower, allowing low-level details in the music to come through.
Fairly easy to install, just remember to check the pulley height above the plinth before changing. My Planar 3 needed both mount pads.

Old Rega P3 motor failure. 02 April 2021 | Andrew
Got a 24V motor kit from the helpful guys at Analogue Seduction and now turntable working better then new, no motor noise at all and speed good.
One word of caution though, mine is a very early Rega P3 and needed both sticky pads to get motor pully to clear platter. CHECK CLEARANCE BEFORE MOUNTING.

Excellent upgrade and easy to install 01 April 2021 | Wing
This DIY project is the most satisflying one that have revived my old but well loved Planar 2. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, and the kit included all the little things required. A job well done Rega. I'm a happy camper now! thx

Effective upgrade. Instructions could be improved, my 1988 Planar 2 required all of the foam spacers not just the double one as the instructions state. I would recommend measuring the height to the top of the drive pulley before you start and then using the spacers to achieve the same height.

I had been toying with this upgrade for a few months prior to having it forced upon me when the old original motor packed up completely.Rang the guys at Analogue Seduction and picked up the new motor the same afternoon. Settled down to the task ahead expecting the odd hold up along the way but nothing could have been further from the truth, It was a very easy replacement process, old motor out new one in, had to fit the supplied sub-platter spacer as the non standard one was now to low allowing the belt to ride too close to the top and risked falling off. The other issue caused by this was the Non standard acrylic platter was now too high and cause the stylus to catch the side of the record. I found a 2mm washer in the man cave and cut it in half before loosening the tone arm mounting bolt under the plinth enough to allow the washer to be positioned beneath the tone arm housing. every thing was re-tightened and checked before use. Side of record was now cleared easily and the motor ran smoothly. The speed or the platter is now rock solid at 33.3 and the noise threshold has been lowered as well, noticeable on quieter pieces of music as there seems to be a depth almost blackness from front to back in the sound stage. I have hardly turned my old turntable off since and have rediscovered albums that haven't seen the light of day in many years. If your thinking about this upgrade and are unsure don't be, its the best £135 I have spent in many years. Easy DIY job too even for someone with limited experience. Think no longer GO DO IT.

Must have upgrade for the older gen Rega 23 September 2020 | Graham
I was sceptical that an upgrade could make a significant difference but it does. I’m not enough of an audiophile to understand the sound improvement but the physical performance is significant on an old Planar 3. Pick up is immediate now and swapping records doesn’t impact speed.
I bade read reviews that say it can take a couple of hours to fit. I’ve never soldered before and it took about 30 mins taking my time. The longest part was waiting for the spindle to drop.
All the parts are very good quality and fitted pretty well. 2 points of feedback:
The instructions tel you to test fit the motor before soldering the tone cables. Do it the other way round, it’s easier to solder.
On the motor retaining cover there is a white damping of, this and the thicker support pads made the casing a bit snug so when tightened it didn’t fit snugly to the bottom of the plinth.
AS were brilliant, they weren’t my first choice: blame Google search for that, but I called first and sorry I didn’t get the chaps name, but he was really helpfull, very polite and gave brilliant customer service.

The motor on my old Rega Plannar 3 packed up after many years service. This kit does what it says and has various spacers to cope with differences in build across the range. Needs to be fitted by an engineer ideally but is not beyond the capable amateur. Soldering required, so if you're not confident then get a pro to do it.
