Bowers and Wilkins MT-50 5.1 Home Cinema Speaker System
Totally immersive experience
Actors, dialogue, storyline – it’s when all the parts of a film merge effortlessly together that you know you’re in for a great cinematic experience. The same goes for our Mini Theatre series. Satellites and subwoofers integrate so seamlessly that each individual speaker seems to vanish, leaving you with the most immersive sound possible.
When we decided to create a powerful, compact subwoofer for home cinema, we weren’t going to contradict nature. Instead of a box, we based it on a bubble; the natural way of containing internal pressures without resorting to corners and edges. In the PV1D, power is maximised while air pressures are dispersed evenly around a rigid, continuous shell, reducing unwanted vibrations to a bare minimum.
Compact power
Don’t let appearances deceive you. One of our most diminutive subwoofers, the ASW608 may look neat and unassuming, but it packs an acoustic punch that’s more than a match for some of its bulkier, more ungainly rivals, thanks in part to its 200W ICEpower amplifier. Perfect for a big sound in smaller spaces. Now available in either Matte Black or a Matte White, to match the M-1 speakers.
Sum of its parts
From the inside out, the M-1 was conceived as a unified system. Its design has evolved in a totally integrated way, from the custom-made crossover to the two-piece clamshell cabinet. Now, following a complete technological overhaul, including all-new drive units designed in-house, it sounds better than ever. Dispersion has increased. Imaging is pin-point accurate. Performance is now full range.
Anti-resonance plug
The redesigned bass/mid-range driver features our Anti-Resonance Plug – an acoustic innovation first seen on our high-end PM1 loudspeaker. Constructed from polymer foam, the mushroom-shaped device soaks up resonance like a sponge while also reducing cone break-up, creating unparalled clarity and detail in the midrange.
Limitless versatility
The M-1’s versatility allows it to adapt perfectly to any home environment, no matter how awkward the space. You can put an M-1 on a bookshelf. Or mount it on a wall. Or position it on its own floor-length stand. It can swivel to a horizontal position, for when you want to use one as a centre-channel speaker. You can even take your pick of a choice of Matte Black or Matte White finishes.
Discreet wing
No-one likes messy cables cluttering up their domestic space. So in the same way as a power cable enters a well-designed table lamp at its base and passes up through the stand, the M-1’s signal cable disappears into the back of the table plinth stand. From here, the signal reaches the speaker via a specially-designed, pre-wired arm support.
Nautilus tweeter
The M-1’s tweeter is a highly specialised piece of equipment custom-made by the team behind some of our best-known hi-fi speakers. The tweeter is tube-loaded – a design innovation we first introduced on our ground-breaking Nautilus speaker. The tube works by soaking up unwanted resonance from the back of the tweeter, so the sound you hear from the front is as detailed and precise as possible.
Finished to perfection
The M-1 was always a stylish speaker, but thanks to some subtle design tweaks it’s now looking sleeker and more elegant than ever. The cabinet is now more curvaceous, made of just two perfectly interlocking sections that form one harmonious whole. This integrated structure isn’t just about visual aesthetics – the lack of seams and joins is key to the M-1’s rock-solid sound.
