Astell&Kern SEM4 DAC module for SE180
Astell&Kern SE180 is AK’s first modular digital audio player, the Astell & Kern SEM4 module upgrades the SE180 with a superior Asahi Kasei AK4493SEQ dual DAC.
The fourth module in the SEM range, the SEM4 DAC Module is specifically designed for the Astell & Kern SE180 Digital Audio Player. This dual-DAC design is the first to include the revolutionary Digital Audio Remaster (DAR) upsampling technology; this enhances the sample rate of its audio source for a more organic and analogue-like sound, with a maximum PCM rate of 384kHz / DSD256.
The SEM4 employs the latest Asahi Kasei AK4493SEQ dual DAC with Velvet Sound technology, it aims to deliver a more natural sound performance with even lower noise and distortion along with a wider dynamic range. It is also boasts low-power consumption, enabling up to 14 hours of low-noise playback – the best yet from the SE180 modules.
The SEM4 also boasts A&K’s proprietary Teraton Alpha Sound Solution, which aims to deliver audio that’s as close as possible to the original sound by reducing power noise and providing a more efficient amplification through to the conversion stage. It also supports up to 32-bit, 768kHz / native DSD512 high-resolution digital audio files.
