Dynavector DV XX2 MKII Moving Coil Cartridge

Dynavector like for like exchange and rebuild scheme also available. Please contact us for further details.

The DV XX-1 was the first cartridge to feature a "magnetic flux damper" (patent) and softened magnetism" (patent) processes that reject the magnetic fluctuation that is detrimental to a moving coil cartridges performance.

The The DV XX-2 MKII retains the benefit of the flux damper but features the Alinco-5 magnet and the similar rigid construction to the Te Kaitora Rua. Alnico magnets exhibit high magnetic flux density combining with a low coercive therefore magnetic resistance is lower than other magnetic types such as rare earth and ferrite, providing the exceptional stability of the XX-2 MKII output voltage. There is also the additional advantage of low magnetic and electrical resistance contributing to a discernable improvement in sound quality.

The XX-2MKII also exhibits deep powerful bass, treble is both clear and lively possessing none of the hardness found in many moving coil designs.

The XX-2MKII also features a 6 mm solid boron cantilever fitted with a Pathfinder Line contact stylus. PCOCC (pure copper ohno continuous casting process) copper wire is used for the coil. The output voltage of 0.28mV is higher than that of the XX-2 and 6 ohms impedance are suited to most moving coil phono stages.

For ridgity of construction the XX-2 MKII cartridge body is machined from 7075 aluminium the hardest available. However, having only a total weight of only 8.9 grams it is suitable for a variety of popular tonearms.

DV XX2 mk2

Absolutely a brilliant cartridge. It's so revealing. iIt's a joy to listen to my LP's.
It teams up superbly with the Rega P8 and Project DS2. I set the DS2 for 47kohms and it's beautiful to listen to.

A Perfectionist's Dream

I doubt anyone could find much fault with this stylus. It's so good that the quality of the records themselves becomes much more important to system performance. Fortunately, given the best half-speed mastered and direct cut vinyl it reveals the true beauty of the best singers and instruments alike in a way that is incredible.. A very big upgrade for me, from a really good moving iron design and perhaps the best cartridge I could ever afford, but it's a real taste of genuine high end performance at a price the everyday hobbyist can still afford,if only just. It works very well with a Garrard 301 turntable and SME 3012R toinearm, which is what I use.

Hello,

Highly recommended cartridge. At starting, the cartridge was little harsh at highs but after playing of 10 hrs, it delivered a superb sound in all respect.
Perfect bass, rich mids and crystal clear highs....truly sounding cartridge.
And also, the quick response of Gary is appreciable.

Best MC so far
01 November 2017  |

I moved from Ortofon 2M Black which is no doubt an outstanding MM cart. No complaint. This upgrade is a move with my system.

Moving to Dynavector DVxx2 Mk2 is not without hesitation because it is the most expensive one I can afford. Rave reviews of Dyna carts won.

The moment it touched my vinyl collection I was convinced why people love it so much. Groove noise substantially reduced. Revealing and detailed, not so much as analytical or harsh, but truly robust, punchy and quick with the bass, silky smooth and sweet with vocal and highs (e.g. dealing with Louis Armstrong's cornet with much ease). Overall musical, detailed and 3-dimentional.

To me it's expensive, but the upgrade is so significant that it exceeds the premium I paid. By upgrade, I am not unfairly comparing it with the 2M Black, but my experience with other MCs I used like the Audio Technica AT33PTG/II and Transfiguration Spirit Mk2.

PS For all fairness, I should also say that I mostly listen to Jazz and Rock. Classical is played occasionally.

A big step up.
17 August 2016  |

I have had good MM and MC cartridges in the past but this is something special. It is worth taking the time and care to set it up perfectly as it will reward you.
It gives a very clear sound with a great soundstage and separation. I set it up with a 47ohms load, 60db gain and 1.85gm tracking force. I suspect it will get even better as it has only run for about 6 hrs so far.

It’s the people of Analogue Seduction that make this fantastic!
03 March 2016  |

The cartridge sells itself. I‘ve only got a few hours of use but so far it’s the finest cartridge I’ve owned. It will take weeks before I can fully appreciate the performance.

With that said, I wanted to stress that had it not been for the fantastic staff at Analogue Seduction I would not have the opportunity to write this review. With hundreds of locations selling the same, it speaks volumes when someone stands out from the crowd and performs above and beyond. Analogue Seduction deserves your business and they will continue to have mine! Cheers!

Dynavector DV XX2 MKII Moving Coil Cartridge
04 January 2014  |

WOW, what a cartridge. I had been using a Denon 103 on my Gyrodec SEduction turntable. Although very happy with the Denon, due to wiping the stylus of the cartridge I decided to look at something else.

After an excellent discussion with Analogue Seduction covering all technical aspects of my setup, music and preferred style etc. we decided, and I agreed to go for the Dynavector cartridge.

The cartridge recommendation, is to be broken-in over 40hours of use? All I can say is that it performed well above my expectations straight out of the box and still excites me now after 2 weeks of playing records. The sound is truly 'ear' opening and given the bass response that the Denon lacked, my records have been given a new lease of life. I wholly recommend the Dynavector DV XX2 MKII Moving Coil Cartridge.

Thank you Analogue Seduction.

Justin.
