Project 78 RPM Pulley Set

Can be used with the Project Debut MK1, MK2 and MKIII, Classic, RPM4, RPM5 and RPM6 turntables.

Want to play those old 78s. Now you can with this 78rpm pulley kit. Remove the existing pulley with a jewellers screwdriver and replace.

Please note a 78 rpm stylus or cartridge is required for playing shellac records

Pro-Ject Debut 78 conversion

The kit comprises a replacement pulley wheel suitable for 33 1/3 and 78 rpm, and a replacement drive belt.

The pulley was switched - a bit fiddly as the grub screw which tightens onto the motor spindle is at the bottom, underneath the larger diameter part of the component.

I then looped the original drive belt around the pulley and was surprised to find that while the 33 speed was spot on, when the belt was moved over to the 78 pulley, the turntable only ran at about 52 rpm!

Replaced the old drive belt with the one which came as part of the kit (which looked almost identical) and lo and behold, the turntable ran at 78 rpm. After changing the stylus, one happy camper !

A salutary lesson learnt.
