Excellent headphone jack upgrade

Furutech's FP-704G (Stereo) 1/4" gold-plated phone plug is Furutech's latest effort to produce an audiophile quality 1/4" plug, and they've succeeded yet again. Also great for mic and guitar cables!

Tonally correct

This replaced a competitor's rhodium-over-silver plug that was very transparent, but lacked tonal density. The Furutech plug delivers that density and also lacks the 'haze' that the other plug had in the upper mids.

The ground connection plate is slightly magnetic and appears to be steel... normally, that would be a negative, but the sound is so good that I have to surmise that it serves some engineering purpose here.

The entire assembly is built like a tank! There is a reassuring heft to it when picked up for the first time. Does require rather deft hands to solder the connections on for a relatively huge connector like this, though. I've worked with stranded star-quad cables for my purchase and it was alright. Will not readily recommend using solid core cables except for the most experienced of hands.
