Analogue Studio AS-500 Rolling Record Cleaner

PLEASE CLICK FOR THE EXCELLENT HI-FI CHOICE JUNE 2015 REVIEW

Consisting of a comfortable to grip ergonomic handle and a no residue sticky silicone elastomer surface on the roller, simply roll this over your record surface to ensure all the gunk and debris from within the grooves is removed.

On contact with the record surface the silicone elastomer surface deforms to fit deep into the grooves, picking up debris on its sticky surface.

Upon removal of the cleaner from the record surface the silicone elastomer holds the debris and dust, safely away from your stylus, leaving your vinyl perfectly clean.

After use, the rolling cleaner can be cleaned under a tap with water and a little soap, once dry it will be as sticky as new.

Pretty effective

Picks up most of the detritus, but not perfect. Decent price. Needs to be rinsed reasonably frequently to keep the tackiness alive. Not as good as washing the LP, but that's a whole other game!

Useful addition

When the fibre brush just doesn’t quite do the job this is a great way to get that annoying dust off the record but be gentle, the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the roller comes out of the frame too easily in my opinion and you could easily damage the record you were trying to clean.

The best affordable cleaner
25 September 2022  |

I've had mine for 3 years now and it's the best cleaner I've found other than going to the expense of a cleaning machine. It gets into the grooves and lifts out the stubborn stuff that a carbon fibre just rides over.
I place the record onto the record sleeve and inner sleeve and move the roller from the centre to the outside of the record going all round the record. It is really effective at picking up the dust and contaminants which is clearly visible on the roller after a few weeks of use. After a wash under warm water with a little fairy and then leave to dry it's like new again. Unlike the Pixall of years ago it does not create static. I also use a carbon fibre brush and after every side of a record I use a carbon fibre stylus cleaner to remove any build up but there usually isn't any.

Good value for a cheap solution
05 December 2020  |

This is better than carbon brushes and works fine.
However, it is not a substitute for a record cleaning machine costing several hundred pounds.
May need to use a Zerostat after cleaning and before playing the record.
Good value and therefore a better buy than the identical dearer one.

Does the job

Bought this as much more reasonably priced than a nagaoka. Works well taking surface dust away from vinyl

Dust buster
02 July 2017  |

I was sceptical about this, recalled bag the rollers with adhesive tape from the past, however it does what it says. Purchasing quite a few 2nd hand records I have tried all sorts of cleaning withvaried success and still have suffered the clicks and pops from embedded muck in grooves. When it arrived I got out a record I had previously cleaned in a bath system with distilled H2O/Isopropyl and it still has the click. I put the roller to work and popped the record on and it was an immediate improvement with on the odd click left, so it does the job.

It's not perfect and if you want perfection washing and vacuum is best, but for ease of use and for records not to bad the roller does it, a good VFM

Use on those old LP's
01 December 2016  |

Purchased this to help clean some of my 40 year old vinyl prior to playing them with my new record deck & cartridge. Seems to do the job fairly well, reducing the pops & ticks from an otherwise good recording. Also tried it on some old LP's that I recently purchased 2nd hand, and again it greatly reduced the unwanted noise. Recommended.

Rolling away the dirt.
05 October 2015  |

Excellent product that seems to be very effective at removing dust and dirt particles. Also easy to take apart and clean by washing with warm water.
Only downside is that it produces static electric charge on lp which of course attracts more dust!
Other than that, excellent product.

Very effective cleaner
23 September 2015  |

Easy to use, but take care as you end up handling your record more, so more chance of a mishap! Results are great on snap crackle and popping discs as I've found some older discs clean up great with this where the carbon fibre brush fails to do, definitely puts new life into older records, very effective: recommended!
