The Michell Orbe turntable takes the established concept of the GyroDec and adds to it an extra level of isolation, better structural damping, and an improved motor drive system. As of January 2004 the motor controller employs the revolutionary Never-Connected mains isolation circuit.
The Orbe full version is exactly the same as the Orbe SE except it has a double plinth and dustcover
Can you believe it, I have had 15 years service from this excellent piece of engineering.I have partnered it with a SME V TONEARM and an ORTOFON JUBILEE cartridge. When i first received it, within a week i had to send it back because the courier had damaged it. So if your having one delivered pay the extra and have a TOP NOTCH COURIER deliver it from your supplier. When i moved house I packed it and transported it myself. You need to spend some time setting it up and place it on a sturdy base.Since I have had it, I have had a few cosmetic changes done and only those which are supported by Michell. In fact Michell are very helpful so always check with them first if there are any improvements they recommend.i just recently changed the belt (2020) and I am thinking about changing the oil (sounds like my car service!!).The record clamp it comes with is excellent especially when used with the special centre washer/spacer round the spindle and it really does flatten all but the worst warped LPs.I have had many turntables over the years and i have a good size vinyl collection which I enjoy playing from time to time.If you are vinyl person like me then this turntable will support your vinyl collection and assist your tone arm and cartridge to extract every detail from them, including the scratches! The Perspex lid and surrounding base are very prone to dust, especially in my house. So invest in a special lint-free cloth for cleaning without scratching. Better still a few years back I had a tailor-made clear plastic cover made for it in the USA.So if you're into vinyl, I think that this is a value for money HIGH-END machine that should give you many years of enjoyments.
