VPI Prime Scout Turntable

The new Prime Scout is a blend of the original Scout turntable (originally named the "Aries Scout") and the VPI Prime.  Just over 2 years ago the face of VPI changed with the creation of the Prime turntable by Mat Weisfeld.   In creating this table the company shifted towards the curvy, easy to use, and sonic powerhouse of the Prime.

The goal of the Prime Scout was to solidify the consistency and identity of the VPI Brand as it gets ready to embrace the next 40 years of making turntables in America.  The Prime Scout has all of the best qualities of the original Scout but now refines performance.  The motor is upgraded to a 300 RPM (500 RPM overseas) in a machined aluminum housing

The VPI Prime Scout turntable is takes the Scout into higher performance territories from the knowledge gained in producing the VPI Prime. The VPI Prime Scout uses the fantastic VPI JMW 9 tonearm and uses a external high quality motor in a very substantial housing to minimise vibration.

VPI JMW 9 Tonearm the Icing on the Proverbial Cake

JMW 9 perfectly complements Prime Scout, offering all the advantages of a unipivot tonearm at a bargain price. It has an ultra-low friction bearing mounted onto a solid stainless steel rod with a knurled ring to set VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle). As with the more expensive JMW-10.5i and JMW-12.7 arms, the tonearm wand assembly can be removed and replaced in seconds. This allows quick cartridge changes by simply swapping the arm wands. An RCA junction box allows any RCA-terminated interconnects to be used.

The Turntable:

⦁    Thick premium textured vinyl covered MDF bonded to a 12 gauge steel plate.

⦁    Machined 1 3/8" thick 6061 Aluminum platter.

⦁    Platter rotates on an oil bath bearing and fitted to shaft with a #2 Jacob’s Taper for a concentric rigidly mounted coupling.

⦁    The bearing has a PEEK thrust disc and machined graphite impregnated brass bushings using a Thompson Engineering    60 Rockwell case hardened shaft.

⦁    300 RPM AC synchronous motor is contained in a separate steel housing and drives the platter with smooth, quiet      operation.

⦁    Includes a screw down record clamp that eliminates warps

⦁    Cartridge not included
