Icon Audio PS1 MkII Phono Pre-Amplifier

Icon Audio amplifier have an enviable reputation following reviews. First introduced in 2005, the PS1 has proved to be one of Icon Audio's best selling phono pre-amplifiers. It is well known that for many reason, valves can sound much better than transistors, this is especially so with vinyl reproduction. This is because:

- The massve overload of valves prevents distortion on highly modulated or scratched/worn LPs, therefore minimising noise.

- The warm sound of valves is particularly suited to the reproduction of analogue music from vinyl.

- The huge 40dB RIAA difference between 20Hz and 20kHz is easier for valves than transistors.

- Icon Audio use hard wired point-to-point wiring with no printed circuit board.

New Upgraded PS1 MkII

Icon Audio have tweaked and improved the power supply in this new PS1 model. Also, they have made some small improvements to the circuit and wiring.

Simply stunning

Absolutely blown away by this. It is quite a step up for me and also the last part of my update so really allowed everything else to open up.

Still relatively new but Ive thrown some of my classicd at it and it just gets the best from all sorts of music. Everything is clearly in its own space, the bass is large but well defined and controlled. It had real depth, it just sounds so much more real. Much of the improvement does seem to be a building from what I had improved on before. The ability to really seperate the individual parts whilst retaining the flow, but now everything just sounds more lifelike, more 3 dimensional.

Also even prettier in real life, a lovely piece of hifi. Thanks so much to Martin and David, I really couldn't be happier.
